14-11-2009Product - deadline extended Correction
Oooops - in the previous update the contact email was incorrect. It has now been fixed.

Product deadline for submissions has now got an extension to Friday 20th November.
for more info go to www.productmadein.co.uk or contact us direct at info@madeinmedway.com

Product is a collaborative project for artists, designers and makers in Medway. The main activity enables 15 creatives to make products through the process of ‘idea-to-design-to- manufacture’ through creative collaboration with manufacturers.

The project is about applying your creativity skills to a product idea, which will then require creative development and collaboration processes with a manufacturer. The project is about making the idea real. Its not about you making something on your own, it doesn’t have to relate to your creative practice. We’ve had ideas submitted that have no direct relationship to the work of the artists designer and makers, taking them out of the comfort zones. The first stage is the idea, please submit a written description with up to 4 supporting images (sketches, scribbles, photographs etc)

thanks
21-10-2009The Deafcat now open
We received this yesterday from the the Deafcat people: Just a quick email to say we are now officially open and welcoming customers!

"We have affordable gallery and studio spaces available on flexible terms, together with the option of hiring the gallery of an evening between 6 & 8pm for creative workshops, artists' talks, small networking groups etc.  The idea behind The Deaf Cat is to support new, emerging, and student creatives.  We hope to do this by offering affordable gallery & studio spaces, enabled by the income from The Deaf Cat coffee bar.  The coffee bar has already become a meeting place for local creatives, a place to share, inspire and evolve.  We are also confident in saying that you won't find a better, hand crafted, coffee along Rochester High Street. Come and put us to the test."

it's on Rochester High Street (Strood end)

Judging - ‘Ur Idea, Ur World 2009’
We will be one of the judges at this years Creative Innovation Award titled ‘Ur Idea, Ur World 2009’; a competition which is now open to all students from the University for the Creative Arts at Canterbury, Epsom, Farnham, Maidstone and Rochester. UCA is one of Europe’s largest specialist Universities of art, design, architecture, media and communication.

This year the competition has taken on an eco-friendly theme, challenging the students to see how their creativity and innovation can lead to ideas that can make our world a better place. Mentoring and workshops by industry experts will be offered to all students from each of the five campuses to help them take their ideas through to the final ‘Dragons Den’ style presentation.

Seeking to enable young people and their communities to optimise their potential, make improved life choices and contribute meaningfully to their changing world.'
